The book I have loved so far this year is ‘Twisted’ by Steve Cavanagh, published by Orion on the 24th January 2019. Sofia Avellino is prompted to call the police after discovering the horribly disfigured remains of her father in the house.Every time you head down one avenue, crafty Mr. Cavanaugh says not so fast and sends you down another. No one and nothing is as it seems, it’s best to just fasten your seat belt and go along for the ride. If you love a story with a good twist and come on, who doesn’t? They do not come any better than this. What does the blurb say? The second positive is that my copy of “The Accomplice” (Eddie Flynn #7) is on its way to me from the U.K. So I am completely caught up and ready for what’s next! Can’t wait!

However, one woman thinks she's located him and believes him to be a lot closer to home than she imagined (or she'd like). The truth is a lot more complicated than that, which leads to interesting, engaging chapters that take you on such a journey that you're pleasantly unsettled throughout. Well worth a read. * Woman's Way * Xenobiologist Kira touches an alien relic on a routine exploration of an uncolonised planet and accidentally triggers an alien entity to bond with her. Eddie Flynn used to be a con artist. Then he became a lawyer. Turns out the two aren't that different. Psychologically twisted so you question everything, mentally demanding because you have to concentrate on the plot to solve the riddle and wonderfully inviting because it is written by an author who knows how to write the ultimate killer thriller.

It’s difficult to go into detail about the plot without giving away spoilers, so this review will be a brief one. I should mention that this is a standalone and although lawyer Eddie Flynn does get a mention, it is not part of that series.

For his research, Steve Cavanagh studied a lot of American law books, especially the New York Legal system since this is where the Eddie Flynn books are set in, and spoke to lawyers who took him under their umbrella. A fantastic read. Guaranteed to be one of the big books of 2019. You won’t be able to put this down. It’s about time we found out the truth about JT LeBeau…’ Luca Veste After moving to the field of civil rights, in 2010 he took on a racial abuse case representing a factory worker. This case resulted in a landmark damages ruling, and it made Steve Cavanagh quite famous all over again.Twisted is the perfect title for this book. Just when you think you have a handle on what’s happening, the rug is pulled from under you and you are spun around, again and again. I lost count of how many times I thought I’d worked out the ‘who and the what’ only to then find out that everything had turned completely on its head. SC is the king of courtroom dramas - his eddie flynn series is some of the best crime novels i have ever read. so i was super excited to see what kind of standalone he could create. Not whatever it is I got with Twisted. Although, despite my criticism, I really must say I enjoyed the story in general. There were certainly some plot twists I didn't see coming, it was just not the sort of twist I expected/wanted. The storyline is somewhat predictable in some cases. Maybe people who are really easily freaked out might enjoy this. This will be my last book. I won’t write another. The reason should be clear by the time you come to the end of the story. That’s an interesting word-story. Is this a true story? Is it a memoir? Or fiction? I can’t say… There are only two things you need to know:
