About this deal

Guide Rails are the latest introduction in Brooks technology and like all the others, it seems to veer in the direction of “we don’t correct your stride, we let your body define how to run”. This latest is about providing some stability without traditional stability technology (ie. dual posts).

The midsole on the Bedlam 3 is primarily the same as the Levitate 4 making use of Brooks’ firmer, more responsive DNA Amp with a 20% weight reduction from the Bedlam 2. This creates a more performance-oriented ride but is definitely stiff underfoot. What mitigates this a bit is their GuideRails support system which adds stability to inside and outside of the midsole. This cradles the foot a bit more in our experience which alleviates some of the firmness. The sole uses Brooks’ a DNA AMP midsole. This is Brooks’ answer to energy returning foam that everyone seems to have these days. In addition, the "Guiderails" technology aims to work to guide your hips, knees and joints through a natural running motion path. These Guiderails aim to replace the medial post in Brooks' running shoes, and relieve stress on joints when running. The knitted fabric really wraps the foot well and complements the burrito wrap design of the tongue. I have been looking to try something different and have been so keen for these to work for me because of the really comfy feel and the sense they want to be run fast. The Bedlam 3 is a near-identical cousin to the neutral-oriented Brooks Levitate 4, only it’s sturdier and not quite as flexible. If you want slightly less support in every stride, give the Levitate 4 a try. Despite having this compound that boasts high energy return, it felt very bottom heavy. The 8mm drop had me landing and lifting off on my midfoot, but because it was so heavy and stiff I felt like I was dragging. Brooks Bedlam Upper Info Launched in 2010, DNA is a cushioning technology that is also present in most of Brooks’ running shoes. That was not the case with the Brooks Bedlam 3. For a road running shoe the Bedlam has a good amount of toe room, but not too much. The staggered lace hole also creates varied points of lace tension and pull to create a more secure stronghold around your foot.

Both of them have flat laces and traditional lace up closure. Also, both of them have a wrap-around pseudo collar. The new diagonally lugged, arrow-pointed outsole on the Brooks Bedlam 3 provides more flexibility and better traction than the previous edition. It’s integrated into the midsole to promote better transitions to the toe-off phase of your stride and help put more spring into every step. FIT, FEEL, RIDE

Combined with a convenient heel tab and a snug heel collar, you really can't ask for more. Granted, I don't imagine it'd hold up great in nasty weather conditions. I can just see these puppies soaking up water like a dehydrated sponge. The shoe also offers stability for overpronating runners thanks to the integrated guide rails which guide the foot to the correct gait, protecting the ankles, knees and hips from incorrect running technique. Well, that was the diagnosis, and my podiatrist recommended (among many other things) that I ditch my more minimalist footwear in exchange for stability running shoes. The latest in Brooks' Bedlam line, the Bedlam 3, is an everyday road running shoe, offering stability, plush cushioning and a bouncy ride. Beginner, novice and advanced runners will love this model as an everyday training shoe for long runs, recovery runs and faster workout sessions.I constantly found myself having to make sure the detached part of the tongue was in the right spot so it went under the laces the right way. It has a comfortable interior and a sleek and a modern look that could double as a casual shoe with shorts or jeans. WHAT'S NEW?
