About this deal

In most ways, though, the Q90T is equal to, or an upgrade on, the Q90R. It gets an anti-reflective screen, for example, as well as the effective wide viewing angle tech that Samsung introduced last year. This isn’t the first time Samsung has used an external One Connect box with its premium TVs. However, the unit that ships with the QE65QN95A is much slimmer than previous versions, making it easier to hide away. Looking past the single 4K/120Hz-capable HDMI, the QE65QN94A’s gaming appeal is given a major boost by the fact that it keeps input lag down to just 10.1ms in its Game mode, and even supports the SuperWide aspect ratio options available with some PC games. As with the other Samsung Neo QLED TVs we’ve tested recently, the 50QN90A’s mini LED lighting is a revelation when it comes to the sort of contrast we can expect from an LCD TV. The same effortless balance is applied in regards to detail and sharpness, too. Where some TVs, including previous Samsung models, can over-sharpen edges and details, giving everything an artificially etched look, the QN95A ensures that everything is crisp and clearly defined without any of that exaggeration. The detail is all there, but it isn’t rammed down your throat, and that’s the way it should be.

If you happen to add a recent Samsung soundbar to the 50QN90A, the two can join forces to deliver a larger, higher soundstage with even more accurately positioned vocals. The TV’s speakers are well-rounded enough to harmonise with those of the soundbar surprisingly well. The QN95C can ship (lossy) Dolby Atmos sound wirelessly to compatible Samsung soundbars, as well as using Samsung’s Q-Symphony feature to potentially add its speakers to those of a Samsung soundbar to deliver a bigger, more detailed sound mix. You wall-mount your TVs instead of using a stand: The use of Mini LED tech has slimmed down the TV’s proportions, and with it also coming with the One Connect box, it’s better suited for wall-mounting than previous Samsung TVs. some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online) Joining the 50QN90A’s terrific contrast is some exceptionally high brightness for a small screen when showing full-screen bright HDR images. Only Sony is capable of getting even brighter than the 50QN90A in the mid-range/small screen market when it comes to the most intense HDR content – but those Sony sets don’t have Mini LED lighting on hand to keep dark scenes free of blooming. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases. Making the contrast potential of so many dimming zones all the more exciting is how bright the Samsung QE65QN95A is. In its (rather bonkers) Dynamic mode, it actually manages a mammoth 2700 nits of brightness on a white HDR window covering 10% of the screen. The screen only holds on to this extreme brightness very briefly, but it can certainly go there. As mentioned above, the new Motion Xcelerator Turbo tech is designed to deliver a 4K@120Hz-like experience despite the set's native refresh rate being 60Hz. It also gets OTS Lite, which adds two virtual speakers that add height to the sound produced by the two physical speakers along the bottom. b. Sound has always felt secondary for Samsung when it comes to its TVs, and that’s quite understandable. Samsung will point you towards its Q series range of soundbars and we’d certainly encourage you to seek out an external audio solution for your AV room too. You’ll benefit from a sense of scale that no TV speaker system can match. For the most part the 50QN90A’s speakers give a strong account of themselves. Instantly noticeable versus typical TV sound systems is how far the sound spreads beyond the boundaries of the TV’s frame, and how rounded the sound is, with a decent amount of bass depth to underpin and counterbalance the reasonably open midrange and clean treble.

The storage temperature shows the range from a minimum to a maximum temperature, within which storing of the display is considered to be safe. The quality of the latest AI-driven processor can be seen, too, in the set’s upscaling of HD sources. In the Standard picture preset this adds a remarkable sense of extra detail and pixel density to HD or even SD sources while simultaneously detecting and removing – or, at least, not exaggerating – any grain or noise a source might contain. Note, though, that in its Movie mode the upscaling adopts a much softer approach that personally we find hard to take after becoming accustomed to the sharpness of the Standard mode.

Yet more good news finds the QE65QN95A achieving its remarkable contrast performance without compromising shadow detail. In fact, provided you avoid the Natural picture preset, the amount of subtle detail visible in dark areas is quite exceptional. The QN94A is exclusive to the UK market, with Samsung offering three variants with similar specs (QN95A and QN90A). The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. The stand that supports the QN94A is one of the heaviest things I’ve lifted. If you’re inclined to wall-mount this set, I’d suggest putting the stand together anyway and using it for home workouts. It’s that heavy.

Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. Given that the marginal horizontal line structure is to do with the QE65QN95A’s excellent wide angle viewing and low reflectivity features, I’d say its pros comfortably outweigh its cons.

Fortunately, if a game exhibits grey-looking dark scenes, nudging the Shadow detail adjustment to -2 or -3 can help. As for the blooming in FreeSync mode, which seems to be exacerbated by the warm colour tone and strict luminance controls that the Premium Pro system demands, it can be greatly improved by choosing a cooler colour temperature, setting the Contrast Enhancer feature to High, and switching the local dimming to Standard (rather than high) or, even better, Low – if you can live with the brightness reduction it causes. Samsung QE65QN95A sound quality – No slouching here Interestingly, given the huge sizes and next-gen credentials we're talking about, this new consumer MicroLED TV boasts 'only' a 4K resolution. That's because the size of the individual MicroLEDs (each of which represents a single pixel, remember) means there are physical limitations to pixel density (how many pixels can be crammed into each inch of screen). In other words, MicroLEDs will have to get even smaller before MicroLED TVs become available at smaller sizes and higher resolutions. So that's the overview of the technology behind Samsung's 2021 TV range, but what about specific models? We now have a pretty complete picture of the range in both the UK (and Europe) and US, and you'll find all the details below.Under the TV’s skin is a new version of Samsung Quantum Processor, called the Neo Quantum Processor 4K. The big new feature here is referred to as Ultra Precision Light Driving, which involves more precise dimming and a local power distribution feature that sends power to the brightest areas of the picture and away from the darker parts. It also works in conjunction with a sensor integrated into the TV's frame to adjust brightness and contrast in response to ambient lighting conditions. There’s a new level of ‘deep learning’ applied to contrast enhancement, too.
