About this deal

Creates a medium that transports water more effectively through to the plant and is easier to re-wet.

Creates a more open, free draining medium allowing roots to grow through the whole volume of compost. They often contain a different mix of ingredients to those found in multipurpose composts. These include small amounts of sand, grit or vermiculite in seed and potting composts, bark in orchid compost and mostly gravel and sand in cacti composts. Both employees and self-employed workers will pay less in National Insurance from next year, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced in today's Autumn Statement. Scottish Gardener Multi-Purpose Compost provides the ideal growing medium for seed sowing, striking cuttings, growing on young plants and potting on established plants. It provides the ideal balance between water holding ability and free drainage. Scottish Gardener Multi-Purpose Compost is recommended for window boxes, containers and hanging baskets and for planting out shrubs and trees. Specific-use composts tend to be more expensive than multipurpose composts, but in some cases it's worth paying a little more.

Choosing the right plants will ensure you get the best out of your blooms. Plant with trailing plants around the outside and upright plants in the middle. Fill gaps, firm compost down and water well.

There are two main types of compost: multipurpose and composts for specific use, such as raising plants from seed or growing plants in patio containers. Multipurpose and all-purpose composts Store Scottish Gardener Multi-Purpose Compost in a dry, frost free environment away from weedkillers and other chemicals.NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, which are all part of the NatWest Group, will now shut at least 172 of their bank branches in 2023 and 2024. The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has today (Wednesday 22 November) announced a range of tax, benefits and savings measures. We round up the key announcements and what they mean for you. Choose new containers that are clean, have good drainage and enough space to allow strong root growth. Dry, clean bags that aren't torn or faded - in the garden centre choose bags that look new as the contents contain fresh compost. Bags that are faded or are heavy have been hanging around, getting too hot in the sun or soaking up rain, which will damage the compost in the bag. If possible, buy from a garden centre that keeps its compost in a covered area. Space seedlings to allow for vigorous growth. Water regularly until the seedlings are ready to be potted on

Autumn Statement: State pension confirmed to rise by 8.5% from April 2024 – while some benefits will go up by 6.7% Lining your containers and baskets can help with water retention as well as draining water at a consistent pace for longer lasting plant life. This year we chose to only test peat-free compost. From 2024, you will only be able to buy peat-free compost in garden centres and DIY stores when the government introduces a ban on peat composts. We firmly believe you can get great results from peat-free composts and we haven't used peat in our own trials for many years. We have also included Moorland Gold composts which use peat recovered from lakes and dams after being naturally washed from peat heathland by rainwater. Scottish Gardener Multi-Purpose Compost provides an excellent free draining growing medium for planting all types of baskets and containers. Fill the hanging basket/window box with compost. Plant with trailing plants around the outside and upright plants in the middle and water thoroughly. Place hanging basket / window box in a green house until plants have established in the compost before transferring outside. Placing in a warm spot away from direct sunlight until cuttings have rooted will give best results.
