About this deal

Made from a soft and warm flocked outer fabric that provides grip to prevent your sleeping bag sliding off. The flocked outer fabric is soft, warm and provides grip to prevent your sleeping bag sliding off the bed with you inside it. Keep it sealed and do not put it in an attic, cellar or shed where it could be easily damaged and grow mouldy from the cold and damp in the winter months.

With two drawstring pulls on either side, the bag that this air bed comes with is possibly the most practical of all the storage bags in this test. The self-inflating air beds we tried go up to 48cm in height at the pillow end, compared to thinner camping-focused designs that can be just 16cm in height. Mountain Warehouse’s portable mat is quick to inflate even if the little one wants to help you work the foot pump. I used this Airbed for 5 nights in a row maybe topping it up once or twice which took a minute but most of the Air was still there anyway, I just wanted it firmer. Its easy-to-use foot pump means it takes just a few minutes to put up, and it stays inflated thanks to the strong and durable PVC material with welded seams. And if you’re not sure if you need a single or a double mat, try Abberton’s convertible 4-in-1 flocked air bed for size. It also features a very subtle built-in pillow and raised sides that we all thought gave good edge support and made it easy to get in and out of. The rubber bottom of this mat feels strong and sturdy and we didn’t encounter any slow leaks on test. The flocked outer material of the deluxe double is comfortable to sleep on, and we like the slightly raised pillow (although you’ll still want to bring your own sheet and extra pillows as well).

Bought it for two nights camping, worked well, we slept amazing over night, had to pump it a bit after first night, but probably due to temperature differences it slightly deflated. Treat yourself to the luxurious comfort of the Hi-Gear Deluxe Double Airbed on your next camping trip. While I found it a challenge to fold the bed up after use, the bag was big enough to allow for my clumsy folding.

For a start, the built-in pumps and plugs aren’t waterproof, and unless it can be inflated with a standalone pump, you’ll also need access to a mains socket or compatible power pack to inflate and deflate the air bed. A very cheap air bed can be a false economy – they’re prone to slowly deflating in the night, and can be plasticky and uncomfortable to sleep on.Whether you're just getting started or an experienced climber, whatever your adventure needs, we have the gear. This mat is also self-inflating, which means you can let it sort itself out whilst you get on with relaxing.

I tried sleeping on the side, back and front of the mattress and I was pleased with how comfortable the bed kept me during the night. Had to open all the ventilation parts of the tent because of the plastic smell which means it’s a lot colder. They also allow you to eschew sleeping bags in favour of proper sheets, pillows and duvets to make camping far comfier. The flocked surface is soft and keeps a sheet from slipping about, and we found this mat stayed inflated effectively when on test. With a max load of 340kg, this air bed can also take a lot more weight than most doubles, which are usually designed up to hold up to 200kg.The bed also did well to retain its firmness in the night, needing only a little topping up after the kids had a play on it. This is because the plastic warms up and stretches when you inflate it first, so then you need to top it up. According to the Sleep Foundation, it’s completely natural for air beds to lose some inflation over time. Get the best of both worlds with this clever Abberton design– you can zip together the two separate air beds to make a comfy double, use them separately or stack them together for a deep single bed that makes for a very comfy night for one camper. Including an easy-to-use foot pump, that inflates in just a few minutes and stays inflated due to the durable PVC material.
