About this deal

When they start riding, many young toddlers will begin by holding onto the handles and walking with the bike, hovering over the saddle rather than sitting. The padded foam seat and rubber hand grips make it comfortable to sit and hold on to the bike for longer periods, which is excellent news for the school run. This brightly coloured bike is decorated with distinctive paint splodges and for further personalisation, a Squish sticker set is included. Scoot around safely on the Micro Balance Bike 2in1 Chopper, a lightweight balance bike with clever features and a cool, retro design that parents and kids alike are sure to love. We give all new products a thorough once-over, checking that the features are as good as they say and that the product functions as it's supposed to.

With a lightweight composite frame, it has 30cm air wheels for a smooth, safe ride and is made of replaceable, recyclable components. The adjustable seat means the AIRO is suitable for a child with an inside leg measurement of 30cm to 46cm (11. This would be a big help for the littles that put their bikes down, grab the handlebars to pick it up and before you know it they are headed down the driveway hill with backwards handlebars. The Hornit AIRO is for children from the age of 18 months up to around five years old (with an inside leg measurement of 30cm to 48cm). Emma, mum of our 19-month-old child tester, described the AIRO as "sleek, smart and beautiful quality" and she was particularly impressed by how well it fitted her young son.

Straightforward to assemble, this balance bike is suitable for children aged two to five, with a comfy saddle that adjusts from 36-42cm.

Straight out of the box the AIRO's simplicity is clear; you just remove the packaging, straighten the bars, tighten the stem with the included 5mm allen key, and adjust the saddle. Our two-year-old, three-year-old and five-year-old testers tried out a selection of balance bikes for over a month – indoors and outdoors – to find the best ones, taking everything from how easy they were to manoeuvre to how the tyres performed into consideration. thanks to its aluminium frame – which made it really easy for both our testers to get to grips with and move around on.

Unfortunately, the Airo does not have a steering limiter so it’s something to consider when purchasing. If you have a biker who loves to coast with little work, but not push themselves full steam ahead… this is a great pick. Well it might not last that long, as I hope to live a long life, but this thing is built well and has style for miles. it’s lighter than almost all of the balance bikes we reviewed last year, making it easy for a toddler beginner to push it into motion with their feet, lift it over kerbs and manoeuvre around.

We commend Hornit for acknowledging that while an amazing bike, the AIRO is not a great fit for taller riders. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. Once they've mastered the art of staying upright, older cyclists will benefit from front and rear V-brakes and pedals, which can be fitted onto the frame with the tools provided. While this was a little more time-intensive and tricker to add on, it wasn’t hugely complicated and, again, the video really helped us through.
