First starting in Surprise, State 48 — a nod to when Arizona got its statehood — has rapidly expanded throughout the Valley, and for good reason. Each location has a 10-barrel system at minimum, pumping out fan favorite such as theSound of Freedom IPA, Javelina Hefeweizen, Lost Dutchman Golden Ale, Copper Star Kolsch andVortexAmber. You can probably tell that every aspect of State 48 makes a nod to our beautiful Sonoran Desert and Arizona culture. Pair that with some delicious food — including wood-fired Neapolitan pizza at their Surprise location — and all sorts of yard games, and you'll be set. Plus coy about the ingredients which doesn't engender confidence. Not one I'd buy again.

[Edit: In the comments below Séan Billings says he remembers drinking large bottles of Phoenix in Waterford in 1989.]
