About this deal

Works well with filters– this lens is designed so that it can be used with filters. That’s another reason that makes it great for landscape photography. My favorite filters for this lens are the Cokin P-Series filters, which I talk about in-depth here.

tight stars to the edge (if not the very corners), which really improves sky- scapes and avoids having to crop out the drama from that Focusing is down to 0.2 m, or 0.66 feet, for a maximum magnification of 0.09x. This is usefully close, but not in the realm of macro photography. Fast f/2.0 aperture– the bright aperture of this lens makes it perfect for low light shooting and astrophotography. It is one of the fastest ultra-wide lens available for mirrorless systems to date (also available for other mounts).

Sunburst Effect with the Samyang 12mm

The Samyang AF 12mm F2 X is a compact ultra-wide-angle lens, especially when compared to the other alternative lenses in the X-series line-up, like the XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS WR and the XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR zooms. It measures 59.2mm / 2.3in in length and weighs in at 212g / 7.5oz. It is a little on the bulbous side, though, with the maximum diameter measuring 70.0mm. Taking the rating on performance, the result moves from 4 to 4.5 partly because the lens performed significantly better than a previously tested similar Samyang optic for E mount. They couldn't be the same rating, but in any event even changing that figure wouldn't change the overall result. The central sharpness (actually resolution of course) is very high, which does eclipse the edges somewhat as a result. However, the edges are still very good and that still means a very good result. Images will be sharp edge to edge.

None of these extras are available in the smaller 12mm lens, so handling is more straightforward but is nevertheless perfectly intuitive. Performance The Rokinon 12mm f/2 can turn an ordinary scene into something extraordinarily! The lens is both challenging and rewarding. If you want more dramatic pictures, this lens is an excellent place to start—just shove the glass right into the scene! It’s also an excellent option for astrophotography. Why I love this Rokinon lens is because it increases the drama of the picture, and can be extremely rewarding to use. And even though I use it less now, I’ve certainly got my money’s worth out of it!

Sell the kit you’re not using to MPB. Trade in for the kit you need to create. Buy used, spend less and get more. Buy. Sell. Trade. Create.Samyang have developed a reputation for landscape astro’ lenses, especially with their 24mm F1.4. The 12mm is pointed sunstars– this is probably my biggest gripe with the Samyang 12mm. It used to bother me quite a bit, actually, as it’s not the most attractive looking sunstar. But now I think of it more as a trademark of the lens. 🙂

The lens also doesn't feature built-in optical image stabilisation, relying instead on the camera body's stabilisation system.Commendably the Samyang AF 12mm F2 X exhibits virtually no barrel distortion in either the JPEG or RAW files. Sunstars and Flare
